Angelo "Gelo" Mañosa

Angelo "Gelo" Mañosa is the principal and CEO of Mañosa & Co., the architecture practice his father, National Artist for Architecture Francisco "Bobby" Mañosa, founded in 1976. He earned his architecture degree from the University of Santo Tomas in 1997 and a master's in design science at the University of Sydney in 2000, and he apprenticed in the family practice before taking the lead role.

The firm built its reputation on a distinctly Filipino architecture rooted in the bahay kubo, using indigenous materials such as bamboo, coconut, rattan, and adobe. Landmark works from the founder's era, including the Amanpulo and Pearl Farm resorts, remain part of the studio's legacy rather than Angelo's personal portfolio.

Under Angelo, Mañosa & Co. continues this neo-vernacular, climate-conscious approach while extending it to residential and institutional work. He co-led Tagô, a hidden, bahay-kubo-inspired residential community in Tagaytay, and his recent houses, such as a sustainable residence in Calatagan, Batangas, rely on passive cooling, local materials, and endemic landscaping. His guiding brief stays deliberately plain: keep things simple and design authentically Filipino.
