Benjee Mendoza
About
Benjee Mendoza is a co-founder and principal architect of BAAD Studio, whose name stands for Benjamin and Annabelle Architecture Design, which he established in 2010 with his partner, architect Annabelle Bermejo. Both are graduates of the University of Santo Tomas, and Mendoza has served four times as a juror for the World Architecture Festival.
BAAD Studio pursues a contextual, climate-responsive Filipino architecture rooted in local setting and tropical climate. Its redevelopment of the Sunken Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes of Cabetican in Bacolor, Pampanga, a shrine submerged by the 1991 Mount Pinatubo lahars, won the civic category of the 2018 World Architecture Festival future projects awards. The firm's own Mendoza Farmhouse in Alfonso, Cavite, a prefabricated steel home, was shortlisted at the 2022 festival.
Mendoza is recognized internationally through repeated World Architecture Festival wins and shortlists, and his work has been featured across ArchDaily, BluPrint, and Kanto, placing him among the more prominent voices in contemporary Philippine architecture.
