Conrad Onglao
About
Conrad Onglao is the principal architect and managing director of C.T. Onglao Architects, Inc., the Makati-based practice he has led since 2000. A registered architect and interior designer, he is among the country's most sought-after residential designers, celebrated for a restrained style that clients describe as quiet luxury, blending Californian casualness with Asian drama and neither wholly minimalist nor maximalist.
In 2008 he led the demolition and contemporary rebuild of Bahay Pangarap, the presidential residence in Malacanang Park, giving it an Asian-modern, resort-like character. His residential portfolio includes the C House, a four-storey Modernist home completed in 2012 on a compact Manila lot, and Casa Esperanza in Lucban, Quezon, the Filipino Farmhouse retreat he built with singer Zsa Zsa Padilla using repurposed yakal wood and passive ventilation.
Beyond private commissions, Onglao was named 2019 Outstanding Professional of the Year and has served the profession as a Professional Regulation Commission commissioner and as chairman of the Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture.
