Ian Fulgar

About

Ian Fulgar is a Filipino architect and the principal of Fulgar Architects, a Manila-based practice he founded in 2013 after training at the University of the Philippines College of Architecture. He runs a widely read architecture blog at fulgararchitects.com and positions himself as an "Architect of Ventures" who partners with landowners and investors to develop branded real estate projects nationwide.

The firm concentrates on large-scale hospitality, gaming and leisure work. Its portfolio includes the Hiribaco Entertainment Resort in Alaminos, Pangasinan, a three-tower mixed-use complex built around an aquatic-shell concept, and the La Union Luxury Resort Complex in San Fernando, a 3.3-hectare beachfront development that pairs a grand hotel with premium residences.

Fulgar describes the studio's approach as metamodern, moving past the polarities of older design schools, and applies it across hotels, casinos, condominium towers and master-planned townships. He is affiliated with the United Architects of the Philippines and works with developers and international consultants on tourism-driven projects across the country.
