Jim Caumeron

Jim Caumeron is a Filipino architect and the principal of Jim Caumeron Design, a Makati-based practice focused on modern tropical residential work. His houses respond directly to the Philippine climate, using high ceilings, deep overhangs, and generous openings to move warm air out and pull daylight in without leaning on heavy mechanical cooling.

The practice drew international attention with Panorama House, a 2019 weekend retreat in Tagaytay published by ArchDaily. Working on a tight budget inside a gated community of Mediterranean-style homes, Caumeron reduced the building footprint to roughly 100 square meters and shaped a monolithic white volume cut by two horizontal openings, turning the house inward to create its own framed world rather than borrowing from unremarkable surroundings.

That interest in framing carried into Viewpoint House in Quezon City (2020), a white concrete form with trapezoidal niches and a corner picture window aimed at a neighboring park, and Through House in San Fernando, Pampanga (2024), a compact home for a physician and his two daughters built around light, ventilation, and a strong sense of spatial openness on a modest lot.
