About
Pearl Robles-Alfonso is a principal architect and co-founder of 8X8 Design Studio Co., a Makati-based practice she established in 2012 with Adrian Alfonso. The studio focuses on modern, tropical, and minimalist spaces across residential, commercial, and interior work.
Her most published project is PK House, a weekend retreat in Calatagan, Batangas completed in 2023. Conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of the bahay kubo, the three-level residence rises on a hilltop overlooking Balayan Bay, using steel framing, full-height glazing, and stacked planes that echo the surrounding topography. The house has been featured on ArchDaily and Kanto.
8X8's work has drawn international attention, from a feature in Germany's Arch+ to exhibitions tied to the UN-Habitat III conference in Quito and the Philippine national pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale. The studio also completed a companion Wellness Pavilion for the same Calatagan client.
