Sacha Cotture
About
Sacha Cotture is a Swiss architect who leads Atelier Sacha Cotture, a practice working across architecture, master planning and interior design with a base in Fully, Switzerland and a satellite office in Manila. He has lived and worked in the Philippines for years, and in his forties also took up painting alongside his architectural practice.
His best-known building is the Courtyard House in Paranaque, Metro Manila, completed in 2011. The single-family home wraps around a central landscaped courtyard, a typology inherited from Manila's Spanish colonial era, and is clad in locally sourced bamboo poles treated against pests and paired with rooftop solar panels. The project was published on ArchDaily and drew international coverage for its low-cost, climate-responsive use of bamboo.
The atelier describes its work as site specific, intended to blend into its physical and cultural context and shaped through close collaboration with clients. It operates through a network of local and international partners assembled on a project basis, giving the studio a multicultural approach to each commission.
